It seems that this is essentially the same product as Stripe Connect.
I know it’s difficult (if not impossible) to get access to the Reference Transactions API to enable the existing PayPal payments functionality to work.
It looks like this would be the way forward for PayPal and Sharetribe Go (provided the PayPal requirements to sign up to it aren’t too strict!)
I’m aware of at least one Sharetribe Go CE marketplace who has started to integrate it (few months ago). I’ve message them to share your post, hopefully they’ll post about their experience.
We have be in touch with PayPal a few times about this solution but it wasn’t really a terrific discussion, unfortunately. PayPal can be quite difficult to work with Their solution seem to have quite some potential, and they are progressing relatively fast with it. Last time I’ve checked, it still required lots of manual steps (sign a contract with them, manual work required by their side…) and that makes it a bit challenging for us, at Sharetribe, to build it with the hosted version in mind, so we are not working on this.
But again, really interested to hear from others, I’m curious too!
We’re in the process of talking to them. They asked a number of questions about how the API would be used.
The latest question is asking whether we would be integrating FraudNet, however we’re not sure exactly what this is, or how it should be implemented. They are not particularly helpful!
