Hello,
I have read a lot of comments and posts related to Go. It seems that Flex may be the answer to some of the posts. Or not?
Any of you have experience building with Flex? How is it?
thks,
JB
Hi,
Sharetribe flex is not yet released for self- hosted version.

@jbkiv Good to hear that you’ve learned about Flex already! It’s indeed, for rentals and services marketplaces, a solution that offer way more customization possibilities and an API-based approach that you can complement with your own backend for specific tasks.
Is there something specific you’re looking at when it comes to the experience? Have you started your own Flex marketplace already?
@mnsaeed91 Flex offers a json-based API and you can build your own UI on top of it, using the language of your choice. We take care of the back-end and you host your own front-end. So there isn’t, as in Go, a “hosted vs not-hosted” difference.
With Flex, we do offer a Starter template for the front-end that you can customize as you wish. The Flex front-end template is built with JS + React + CSS Modules. If you are familiar with JavaScript, React and CSS, you should be able to start customizing the template rather quickly. You’ll have to host the front-end and any modern hosting service would work, although Heroku would be the easiest choice (less efforts).
Flex is ready to be used in production and is fully working already.
Does it clarify things?
@thomasmalbaux thanks for your valuable response.
Is there a migration path from sharetribe go to sharetribe flex?
I think so, it is explained on their site. Flex is on the top of an API, so it no longer hosted.
@Toonetown Indeed, it’s definitely possible to move from Go to Flex, as jbkiv has mentioned! We have things ready for that, so no reasons not to get started
Hi @thomasmalbaux, could you elaborate on that, please? How exactly could you make the migration to Flex easier if there some specific features in Go that are not supported by Flex or need to be developed from scratch?
Hey @Michael_Rokosh!
