The Top bar refers to the uppermost section of a page in a Sharetribe marketplace. It includes key elements for navigation and interaction, such as the logo, search bar and various navigational links such as Post a new listing, Sign up and Log in.

You can add edit the top bar in your Console build section in Content > Top bar.

Top bar logo link

To modify where the Top bar logo redirects users, simply input your desired URL into the "Logo target URL" field. If no specific target URL is provided, clicking the logo will redirect users back to the landing page of your marketplace.

Search bar

You can customize when the search bar is displayed by choosing one of the following options:

  • Always display

  • Don't display on the landing page

  • Only display on the search page

Add custom links

To add a new Top bar link, click "+ Add a new link". In the "Link text" field, enter the desired display text for the link. This text will be visible to your visitors and users on the Top bar.

You then will need to select the link type:

  • Internal link: links to another page within your marketplace. To create an internal link, you only need to paste the part of the URL that comes after your marketplace’s domain name. For example, if your page is at example.com/p/about, then use /p/about.

  • External link: links to a page outside your marketplace. In this case, you should include the full URL, starting with https://.

You will also need to select a Link placement:

  • Show link in Top bar: Your links appear side by side in the Top bar. The actual number of links that appear in the Top bar depends on the size of the end-user's screen. Any links that do not fit on the viewing screen are moved to a dropdown menu.

  • Show link in a dropdown menu: Your links are grouped under a "More" dropdown menu. This menu will expand when clicked, revealing the links that are contained.

You can add up to 100 links to the Top bar.

Tip: You can personalize the text for the "More" dropdown menu using Marketplace Texts. Look for the key named "TopbarDesktop.LinksMenu.more" to make your changes. For instance, you could rename "More" to "Categories" and include links to listings within specific categories.

Customize the "Post a new listing" text

To update the text label for "Post a new listing," you can utilize the Marketplace texts feature. For detailed instructions on how to make this change, please consult this guide.

Customize the login and sign up links

The login and sign up text labels can also be customized using Marketplace texts. However, removing the links altogether requires code customization.
