Your marketplace is identified by its Marketplace name and Marketplace ID.

How Marketplace name works

The Marketplace name is set when you create your Sharetribe account. It can be changed freely in General > Console > Marketplace name.

Marketplace name is set per environment, so every environment can have a different marketplace name. By default, your Test environment's Marketplace name will include "Test" and your Dev environment's will include "Dev". Marketplace name changes do not copy from one environment to another environment.

The name you set in Console serves as the value for the {{marketplace_name}} variable used in the Marketplace texts and Email texts feature. Learn more about Marketplace texts or Email texts.

If you transition to Custom code mode, then Marketplace name is configured in your custom codebase directly instead of Console. Learn more about transitioning to Custom code mode.

How Marketplace ID works

The Marketplace ID is set when you create your Sharetribe account.

You may never notice the Marketplace ID. Developers use the Marketplace ID when customizing with code. The Marketplace ID is also used for your Sharetribe-branded domain and sender address when your Live environment is first created.

If you wish to change the ID used in your Sharetribe-branded domain and sender address after you go Live, please contact the Sharetribe team using the chat widget in the bottom right corner of your Console.

You can white-label your marketplace domain and sender address in the Live environment starting from the Pro plan. See our pricing page for more information.
