Creating an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on your marketplace provides several key benefits. It improves the user experience by offering quick answers to common questions, which can help reduce friction to user onboarding, listing creation, or initiating transactions. A clear and helpful FAQ can also decrease the number of support requests sent from your end users.
Sharetribe allows you to create an FAQ using Pages. Pages is Sharetribe's native content editor for building and editing content pages published in your marketplace. Learn more about Pages.
While Pages does not offer a built-in FAQ format or collapsible sections, you can still create a structured and easy-to-navigate FAQ by organizing questions and answers with clear headings and links. You may also group questions by topic to make it easier for users to find relevant information.
You can see an example of how an FAQ looks like on this page. If you're interested in replicating this FAQ structure, feel free to contact our support team using the chat widget, and we'll be happy to replicate it for you in your Console!
How to structure your FAQ
When setting up your FAQ, you have a few options for structuring it based on your needs and preferences.
Single FAQ Page
A single FAQ page is the simplest setup, which is ideal if you're just starting your marketplace. This is the same type of structure as the example FAQ page linked above.
Create a new page in Console>Content>Pages and give it "faq" as Page ID.
Within the page, add a new section and select the "Article" section template.
In the section details, add a section title and description to explain the content of the FAQ.
Within the section, add a new block
Add a block title for the question and a block text for the corresponding answer.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each question and answer you want to include in the FAQ.
Separate FAQ Pages by User Type
If your marketplace has different user types (e.g., customers and providers), you can consider creating separate FAQ pages for each. This approach allows you to dedicate an entire content page to the specific questions of each user group.
Create two pages in Console>Content>Pages, one for each user type, and give them a Page ID of "faq-customers" and "faq-providers".
Within each of these pages, add a new section and select the "Article" section template.
In the section details, add a section title and description to explain the content of the FAQ.
Within the section, add a new block
Add a block title for the question and a block text for the corresponding answer.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each question and answer you want to include in the FAQ.
FAQ Homepage with links to dedicated article pages
To set up a more comprehensive FAQ structure, you can create an FAQ homepage that links to individual pages, each dedicated to a specific question or topic.
Create the FAQ homepage in Console>Content>Pages and give it "faq-homepage" as Page ID.
Within the page, add a new section and select the your preferred section template.
In the section details, add a section title and description to explain the content of the FAQ homepage.
Within the section, add a new block
Add a block text with a hyperlink that redirects to the respective question and answer pages.
Create a new page in Console>Content>Pages and give it "faq-questiontopic" as Page ID.
Within the page, add a new section and select "Article" section template.
In the section details, add a section title and description to explain the question and its content
Within the section, add a new block
Add a block text containing the answer to the corresponding question.
Repeat steps 6 to 11 for each individual question you wish to link to the FAQ homepage.

β
Anchor links: Anchor links enhance user experience by enabling quick navigation to specific sections on a web page. If you want to link directly to a specific section of your FAQ, you can specify an anchor link ID using Pages. You can then link to the section with a URL like this: https://www.example.com/p/faq#question1
.
Using Markdown: You can format text in your FAQ using Markdown to enhance their readability. Markdown allows you to format and structure your content, making it easier to navigate and understand. Learn how to format text with Markdown.
Meta tag descriptions: After creating your FAQ page(s), you should configure the SEO & Social tab of those pages by adding metadata tags. Metadata tags inform search engines and social media platforms how to display links to your site when they are shared. Learn more about SEO and social media tags.
